Making the university a transforming force in global health

CUGH and NCI Global Cancer Research Day

PRELIMINARY AGENDA ANNOUNCED - Click here

The Global Cancer Center at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at NIH will be holding a one-day meeting on March 13, 2013, in conjunction with the CUGH Annual Conference, which runs from March 14-16, all at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. The purpose of the NCI sponsored meeting is to provide teams from NCI-designated Cancer Centers and interested CUGH member institutions the opportunity to exchange information about their programs in global cancer research, identify potential geographical and scientific areas for collaboration, and work with the NCI and CDC to develop strategic priorities for research.

NCI recognizes the value in collaboration and the leverage gained through partnership. NCI has asked CUGH to work with its members to help identify individuals within its membership who might be interested in attending this one-day meeting.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND, PLEASE REGISTER HERE

In addition, NCI would like to invite a small group of individuals from LMIC partner institutions with CUGH member universities to participate in the meeting. NCI support will include travel, lodging, and registration to CUGH's Annual Meeting for these Individuals. While the nominated individuals do not have to be directly involved in cancer research, they must be able to represent their institution’s interest in addressing this important and neglected area of global health in the future, and be able to describe the current status of programs already in place or planned to study and treat cancers of diverse types.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE AN INDIVIDUAL FROM A PARTNER UNIVERSITY IN AN LMIC OR ARE AN INTERESTED INDIVIDUAL FROM AN LMIC, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE WITH THE INFORMATION REQUESTED BELOW NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 20, 2012. NOMINATIONS SHALL BE REVIEWED BY NCI AND CUGH AND SELECTED INDIVIDUALS WILL BE INFORMED NO LATER THAN JANUARY 15, 2013.
