CLOSED: Deadline Extended: Call for New SMUDGH Members

CUGH is seeking applicants willing to serve a two-year term on its Subcommittee on Master’s and Undergraduate Degrees in Global Health (SMUDGH). Applications from individuals working in undergraduate global health education are especially welcome.

About CUGH: The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) is a rapidly growing Washington, DC-based professional organization of over 145 academic institutions and other organizations from around the world engaged in addressing global health challenges. CUGH was established in 2008 with generous funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation. CUGH supports academic institutions and partners to improve the well-being of people and the planet through education, research, service, and advocacy. CUGH supports the university as a transforming force in global health.

About SMUDGH: While CUGH's original focus was on medical institutions as an academic focus of global health clinical practice, the organization has embraced the critical contribution of academic institutions that focus on global public health at the (non-medical) doctoral, masters, and undergraduate level as well. CUGH’s efforts in this area are led by a paired set of 10-member working groups focused on undergraduate and master’s global health education. During the next two years, these two groups will examine current trends and identify best practices related to curricular design of B.S. and M.S. programs, experiential learning opportunities for non-clinical students, and professional development pathways. Members of these working subcommittees will have the opportunity to engage with other educators and scholars who share their enthusiasm for academic excellence within this field.

Application Criteria & Instructions: Applicants should submit a CV and a statement of interest (no more than 500 words) describing their experience in global health education and their particular areas of interest related to the SMUDGH mission using his link no later than September 15th, 2019. SMUDGH members must be individual members of CUGH or work at an organization that has an institutional CUGH membership before the start of the Subcommittee term on September 15.
