Member Highlight: American University of Antigua College of Medicine

American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine’s Global MD Program is conducted in collaboration with Florida International University (FIU). As one of the most innovative and recognized Caribbean medical schools, AUA plays a pivotal role in addressing the world’s forecasted shortage of physicians, with key accreditations required for medical licensure throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and India.

AUA’s Global MD Program is a comprehensive, four-year longitudinal track in global health that is integrated into the curriculum, and open to all eligible entering medical students. The program’s objective is to support and guide students in developing expertise in global health issues, initiating career involvement in patient care, service, policy making, research, and education worldwide. Students on the Global Health track are introduced to the study of community and public health, primary care, epidemiology, and treatment of communicable and non-communicable diseases on a global basis. The two-year Basic Sciences component of the program is conducted on the campus of AUA in Antigua, followed by the Clinical Sciences component at FIU-affiliated clinical sites in Florida and AUA-affiliated clinical sites within the US and abroad.
