Member Highlight: National Taiwan University
The College of Public Health is a mini-National Taiwan University itself, with teaching and research activities involving disciplines not only in natural and biological sciences but also in humanities and social sciences. The essence of public health dictates that we are concerned greatly about the health rights of people and pursue the ultimate goal of health for all. Our endeavors have been focused on disease prevention and health promotion, environmental protection and sustainable development, and the operating and management of the health care industry.
Our PhD programs in global health are designed for international public health professionals who have MPH, MS or MD degrees and are eager to pursue a degree in a global health perspective. They offer interdisciplinary courses and integrated research experiences in epidemiology, biostatistics, preventive medicine, health policy and management, environmental health, occupational health, and food safety, etc. It is expected that students will become PhD candidates after completing the required courses in the first academic year, and then fulfill their thesis work in another 3-5 years by collecting data in their home countries and conducting laboratory work at the college if necessary.
