The CDU Advantage Institutional Domain and Learning Outcome: Global-International Experience
We are committed to cultivating diverse health professional leaders who are dedicated to social justice and health equity for underserved populations through outstanding education, research, clinical service, and community engagement. At CDU, community encompasses historically underserved, underresourced, and underrepresented groups such as those in South Los Angeles and around the world that are impacted by health disparities. As a value, “community” is the binding spirit that inspires and drives our unique approach in preparing health professionals dedicated to social justice and health equity. The CDU vision statement is "Excellent health and wellness for all in a world without health disparities". To execute this vision, one of our 5 pillars and institutional learning outcomes includes “Global-International Experience”. This entails a cross-cutting effort to train and develop our students, faculty and staff as global health leaders with the capacity to evaluate the intersection of social determinants of health on health disparity at the local, national and global level. We embrace the abovementioned values and aim to internationalize our university by bringing the world to CDU and taking CDU to the world. The fruits of our efforts are reflected through the development of unique informational sessions, academic development, research, training, field experience and service opportunities for the mutual benefit of underserved communities abroad and locally.
