The Breast Health Global Initiative is marking the launch of a Cancer supplement featuring 14 original manuscripts resulting from the “The BHGI Global Summit on International Breast Health and Cancer Control: Improving Breast Health Care through Resource Stratified Phased Implementation.” This supplement represents the culmination of over two years of collaborative work by more than 50 authors from around the world including healthcare providers, health economists, epidemiologists, public health professionals, implementation scientists, advocates and policymakers. The articles address phased implementation of resource stratified guidelines for breast cancer, health systems integration, training, advocacy, pathology and more.

Dr Ginsburg is a medical oncologist and global women’s health researcher with technical and policy expertise in cancer prevention and control. She is the Director of the High-Risk Cancer Genetics Program at the Perlmutter Cancer Center, NYU Langone Health, and Associate Professor in the Section for Global Health, Department of Population Health at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. Formerly based at the University of Toronto, she was a Medical Officer at WHO (2015-2016) and continues to serve as an ad hoc consultant to several UN agencies. Her research is focused on improving equitable access to breast and cervical cancer control globally, with funding from Grand Challenges Canada, Canadian Institutes for Health Research, and the U.S. National Institutes of Health. She is co-principal investigator for an implementation research study to improve access to cancer genetics services through innovative primary care clinics in New York and Salt Lake City, funded by the U.S. NIH- Cancer Moonshot program. She has authored 100 publications including peer-reviewed papers and invited commentaries in The Lancet, The Lancet Global Health, Cancer, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and other high-impact journals. She is currently leading a new Commission on Women and Cancer for The Lancet.
Alexandru Eniu, MD, PhD

Dr. Alexandru Eniu is a senior medical oncologist at the Hôpital Riviera-Chablais, Vaud-Valais, Switzerland, where he took a position in January 2020 as Breast Unit Responsible and Disease Lead for Breast Cancer. He previously worked in the Department of Breast Tumours at the Cancer Institute “Ion Chiricuta” in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
As an active member of both national and international societies, Alexandru Eniu holds positions in various committees. He was appointed in 2018 Deputy Scientific Director of the European School of Oncology after serving for several years as coordinator for the ESO Eastern Europe and Balkan Region Program.
Within ESMO, he chaired the ESMO Global Policy Committee and, between 2014-2018, he was a member of the ESMO Executive Board, leading several initiatives tackling disparities in cancer outcomes across Europe and the world. Within ASCO, he served as chairman of the ASCO International Affairs Committee. Furthermore, he is a member of the editorial board of several oncology journals including Annals of Oncology. He participated in the process of developing international and national guidelines for the management of cancer patients, serving as the Co-Chair of the Treatment and Allocation of resources Panel of the Breast Health Global Initiative and as panel member of the Advanced Breast Cancer (ABC3 and ABC4) International Consensus Conference. He wrote 6 book chapters and more than 80 articles in international peer reviewed journals within his specialty breast cancer.
