Being a member of CUGH brings your institution into a dynamic association of more than 170 organizations globally that participate in CUGH activities. Membership offers distinct and unique advantages to strengthen your contributions to address global challenges:

Application Instructions

An institution applying for CUGH membership must fill out the following form and submit it to membership@cugh.org. Or, learn more about joining as an individual member instead.

Membership Criteria

Large and small universities, colleges, and stand-alone professional schools that meet the following criteria:

  • Have at least one interdisciplinary program;
  • Must work in health across education, research, and service;
  • Have at least one long-term partnership with a Low and Middle Income Country (LMIC) institution*

*For prospective members based in a low and middle-income country (LMIC), international partnerships are not required for membership but are encouraged.

These members receive full benefits.

Large and small universities, colleges, and stand-alone professional schools that meet two of the “Full Member” criteria; some flexibility if all three criteria are partially met.

These members receive limited benefits.

Non-degree granting academic institutions that meet all “Full Member” criteria.

These members receive full benefits.

Organizations that meet the “Full Member” criteria and are classified as a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) by the National Center for Education Statistics qualify for special pricing.

These members receive full benefits.

Organizations with a mission or activities consistent with those of CUGH. They may include:

  • Multilateral agencies
  • NGOs
  • Professional associations
  • Global health consortia
  • Government agencies

Devex Members: Become a CUGH partner at a 20% discount.

Those who do not meet criteria or fit any membership category description may write a letter requesting membership to the Membership Committee of the Board. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis. This letter should be sent to info@cugh.org.
