The CUGH Working Group on Equitable Opportunities in Clinical Education aims to improve bidirectionality in global health partnerships in professions that have clinical dimensions. Presently there are barriers on federal and state levels that severely restrict opportunities for international clinicians visiting US institutions for focused clinical education. The working group aims to reduce or remove these barriers over the coming years, presently through working groups focused on institutional, state, and federal policy levels. The Working Group co-founded Coalition BRIGHT along with the American College of Surgeons, and has connected with a number of professional organizations to build a network for advocacy on this topic.

To date members have published a white paper that summarizes some of these challenges, and another paper that discusses institutional steps to improve hosting. Interested parties can email James Hudspeth (jameschudspeth@gmail.com) to be added to the mailing list.
