The Philippines through the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) and the Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED, Geneva) are working on the development framework which links health innovations to deal with natural disaster and climate change. As a global hub, the following activities are expected: international research collaboration, exchange of information and expertise, academic exchange programs including fellowships and mentoring, building information resources for policy and business advisories, among other things.
While the concept of the global hub is being finalized, the Philippines is coming up with its National Research Agenda on Health and Disaster Risk Reduction, 2017-2022. The DOST-PCHRD as the secretariat of the ASEAN Network for Drugs, Diagnostics and Vaccines Innovation (ASEAN-NDI)has a joint call for proposals on health and the environment with WHO-TDR.
